Our Favorite Lullabies

Our nights are never complete without lullabies.

thecluelessmomph-lullabies

When I was young, my parents always sang me lullabies.. which were usually songs by The Carpenters, I think. Lullabies to me are nostalgic, and having someone sing you a lullaby is, I think, a beautiful way to bond. Whenever I’d hear a nice song on the radio, I’d sometimes think to myself ‘This would make a pretty lullaby” and store it in the back of my head for future reference.

However, if you’re like me and have gone through general anaesthesia thrice in two years, you tend to forget a LOT. So when The Little Troublemaker was born, for some reason I could not think of a song to sing him to sleep. Call me picky or whatever, but I wanted the song to be meaningful and not just some random pop song. The first song that popped into my head was “Skidamarink” because I used to sing it a lot when I was a kid! So I ended up singing him nothing but a slow version of “Skidamarink” for weeks, and I sang it so much that my husband learned the song, too.

As time passed my list of lullabies grew with songs that The Little Troublemaker enjoys and actually falls asleep to. I’ve tried singing him slow versions of our favorite songs, which are along the lines of rock and alternative, but they never really put him to sleep.

Review: Attipas Baby Shoes

Ethan is not a big fan of shoes. In the past 6 months I have purchased three shoes which we barely use because he gets cranky when we put them on. When we do get him to wear them, they either come off easily or he stops a lot when he walks, probably because he’s uncomfortable. I tried slip-ons with leather soles, tiny squeaky rubber shoes and some cheap slip-ons with socks.
Now that Ethan is becoming increasingly active, I’ve come to realize that he needs a good pair of shoes. He spends a lot of time walking and running, and he needs durable yet comfortable shoes that he can wear at home and outdoors. I was so lucky when Mommy Bloggers Philippines and Attipas Philippines gave us the opportunity to try out the Attipas Baby Shoes, the timing could not have been more perfect!
Attipas Baby Functional Shoes are designed to teach our babies how to walk correctly while providing comfort, durability and safety. They come in different styles and colors, too!
Attipas Baby Functional Shoes is aimed at helping babies to start walking correctly by evenly distributing foot pressure and correct toddler’s walking behavior while he/she learns to walk. The design is based on kinetic and physio-dynamic test of toddlers’ walking that enables the steady and stable walking pattern of the toddler. It also helps in the toddler’s brain development by enabling the sole and toe movement while walking. (from the Attipas Philippines Facebook page)

Too cute, right? Imagine how excited I was when Attipas Philippines sent us a pair for Ethan!
Check out the cool packaging!
Ethan’s very own Attipas! They sent us one from the Natural Herb Collection in Yellow Gray
They arrived just a day before our big trip to Subic! Again, perfect timing!
When we had Ethan try them out, he was fussy at first and he tried to stop me from putting them on! But as soon as we got the shoes on, he started walking as if nothing happened. He did stare at the shoes at first, but then he went back to running around. Here are a few things I noticed:
  • He does not constantly stop anymore, like he did with his old shoes.
  • They don’t slip off like most slip-ons with socks do. He had them on for a couple of hours and they did not come off at all.
  • He did not get itchy or irritable from the socks, he usually does not like wearing socks!
  • He rarely trips or falls down.
During our two days in Subic I had him wear the shoes every time we’d go out. I can honestly say that based on our observations, these shoes are barely noticeable to him.
I love walking in my Attipas!
A budding model in action!
Their Red Marine design would be perfect with his outfit here!!
Upon checking the pamphlet they included in the package, I realized that there is a special benefit to the Natural Herb variant that they sent us:
“Natural Herb yellow is dyed with Amur Corktree. Amur Corktree is one of the most frequently used medical substance from old days. It is known to have outstanding effect for skin drying and sensitive skin. For contemporary people who pursue well-being, natural dye is a great gift. These natural dye will be a present to children with skin trouble like atopy inflammation”
What are the odds that they would send me shoes with such benefits? My son has skin asthma and has patches of eczema on his feet and legs. Come to think of it, this morning I noticed that the patches in the crease between his left foot and leg were gone – completely gone. I’m not sure if I can attribute it to the shoes, or to the salt water when we hit the beach – or both? I can’t tell. But the fact that they could incorporate such healing properties to shoes is just amazing.
All I can say is that these shoes are awesome and true to Attipas’ claims! I still have to observe though if there are any signs of improvement in the way he walks. I checked out Attipas on Lazada and they go for P899 to P1000+. Some of you mommies may find them expensive, but I’m telling you, they are worth it. You just can’t find shoes that offer so much.
Okay, mommies. Let’s sum it up, here are a few more amazing things about Attipas Baby Functional Shoes:
PROS
  • Easy to put on – goodbye to velcro straps and shoelaces!
  • Lightweight and flexible – perfect for active babies
  • They don’t easily slip off, they stay put!
  • Non-slip – thanks to it’s Silicone soles
  • Comfortable and breathable
  • Safe for babies – made from 100% non-toxic materials, No hazardous materials and no glue or adhesives, no use of Formaldehyde
  • Easy to carry in your baby’s bag, they aren’t bulky
  • Easy to clean – they’re machine washable and they dry fast
  • They come in a lot of designs! They have collections such as Rainbow, Animal, Corsage, Ballet, Marine, Together, Sneakers, Polka, and Natural Hurb!

CONS

I honestly can’t think of any. Some might say price, but I’d definitely buy Ethan another pair without hesitation. And with everything listed above, I can’t come up with any reason to dislike these shoes.

Our Little One’s First Trip to the Beach

Hi mommies!

Summer is close to an end but I still can’t get over my son’s first trip to the beach! This was a family outing I planned with my parents for Holy Week (yes, another late post. sorry!). Since my dad has good connections we were able to book overnight accommodations at Acua Verde Beach Resort which is located in Laiya, Batangas.

At the beach with my little man.
Let me share more photos with you! 🙂

Acua Verde is two or three houses away from Acquatico Resort and they’re owned by the same person. Acua Verde is smaller and not as fancy as Acquatico, but still offers quality accommodations and services.
Waiting for check-in time, someone looks impatient!
My handsome little man!
Walking on sand for the first time, he’s not sure how to react.
..but it looks like he ended up enjoying it!
Passing time at the mini-playground. He’s scared of going down the slide.
Drinking milk like a boss.
The resort’s reception area. There’s a fish pond where you can feed the fish!
Getting settled in our rooms. The rooms are small, good for up to three people, but you can request for additional mattresses.
That’s me with my little man.
Acua Verde does not have it’s own swimming pools. However, the owners allowed us to enter Acquatico to use their pool.
Our curious little one playing at a fountain.
Beach front cabanas at Acua Verde. I got up early with my son to reserve a good spot.
Exploring the cabana.
Tired from playing on the beach.
Enjoying the beach with his Dada.

The experience was great. The rooms were neat, the food was delicious and the resort is even pet friendly. One downside though was that they didn’t have their own pools. I’m not fond of Laiya’s white beach because the sand is coarse with so many itty bitty rocks, but I really can’t hold the resort responsible for that. All in all, we had a amazing time and I’d definitely recommend Acua Verde for a quick beach getaway in the Laiya area.

Planning My Son’s First Birthday Party

How are you, clueless moms?

I still can’t believe that my son is turning one next month! Has it been a year already? When I look at my son nowadays I find myself thinking “Stop growing! Can you stay like this for a few years more?”. Sigh, but it is inevitable.. he’s growing up!

Now that he’s turning one, I want to go all out on his first birthday party however after giving it some thought, we decided to settle for something more reasonable. Though I just began my work-from-home job, we did come across some money and managed to secure a venue. At first, I was eying Shakey’s Pizza. Unfortunately though, there are no decent Shakey’s branches near our area. There is one along Evia Daang Hari, but they don’t hold birthday parties on weekends. Crazy, right?? I didn’t want to have the event catered either, it can be quite tiring having to speak to several people like with my son’s baptism. While doing some research, a lot of people recommended Fun Ranch to me. When I visited their website I thought it would be a perfect for my son’s first birthday and then I started bugging my husband about it. After a few weeks, I managed to visit Fun Ranch Alabang and reserve a room and date for my son’s first birthday!
from Google images

We chose the Main Barn which costs P35,000 and is good for 100 pax. It is spacious, neat and is right next to the play area. The P35,000 is inclusive of consumable food and drinks. I have yet to choose our menu, but I may focus more on their best sellers and recommendations.

What’s good about Fun Ranch is that they’re like this one-stop shop for parties – they offer other services such as entertainers, hosts, photo booths, food carts, etc. They may come across as expensive compared to others, however if you choose to bring in external party services, there is a corkage fee of P1000! I’m really lucky though that some of our family members offered to pitch in for some of the services and everything is coming together nicely.

I may finalize more details this week and would love to update you guys soon. I’m also planning to DIY the decorations so I hope that works well for me!

I’d love to hear feedback about Fun Ranch, especially about the food! Your suggestions are also welcome!

Catch you later, clueless moms!

A Quick Update and A Big Thank You!

How are you, Clueless Moms?

Cancel my 9 o’clock, Mama. I have to watch Mickey Mouse.

I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed that it has been a while since I last posted, and I have a good reason for that! I’ve started training for my full-time home based job and it is pretty intense. I haven’t slept well in days and I think I’ve gained weight from stress-eating. Haha!

Anyway, I just wanted to drop by to tell you guys that I haven’t given up on this blog and that I do miss sharing stories with you. Also, I wanted to give a quick shout out to the moms who’ve sent me emails recently. I’m glad that my posts have been useful to you in some way, especially the one about my son’s baptism suppliers. I may have failed to respond to some recently because I’ve been very busy, but I’ll get back to you all soon.

Though I am welcome to receiving emails, I also encourage comments so that we can actively have discussions with each other here.

I’ll be back as soon as I pass my training. Please look forward to a few more product reviews and my son’s first trip to the beach!

Catch you later!
